Antique 1870's Victorian Strap Steel Velocipede TricycleThis rare tricycle is made even more unique by the fact that it retains nearly all of the original paint and pin-striping from when it was manufactured in the 1870's. Full strap steel construction on frame and wheels, with original turned wood grips. This tricycle even has its original leather saddle surface. Adding to the rarity is the scarce circular under-seat spring structure, that is very uncommon. This velocipede was found in an attic in rural Pennsylvania and has been in no way modified, restored or refurbished - simply wiped down lightly to remove some of the dust.
This tricycle is in museum quality. The original paint shows some minor wear as pictured, but the vast majority of the original paint remains. Anyone would be hard pressed to find another tricycle of similar age in this condition. Would make a magnificent addition to any toy collection or could be simply the finest decorative addition to a doll collection or Christmas display. If you want to have the most impressive and head turning antique tricycle, this is it. Front wheel measures 20 inches in diameter, rear wheels are 16 inches and overall height to top of handlebars is around 28 inches. |
